
June is National Homeownership Month. Wealth Watchers Inc., a HUD certified counseling and community development organization, recently hosted its annual Homeownership Legacy Awards VIP Networking reception and annual Luncheon, both events were held at the northbanks River Club. The organization has built their legacy on 25 years of contributing to building generational wealth for people of color. The awards ceremony honors individuals, organizations and partners who align with the non-profits mission, goals and community commitment. This year’s strategic plan is to develop strong financial management systems, maintain an accountable and reputable organization, improve data management and analysis tools for business growth and maximize technology options.
During the year Wealth Watchers participates in: health is wealth equity roundtables, MLK Jr., Service Day and their highly successful Comprehensive Rural and Opportunities Program (C.R.O.P.), an urban agricultural initiative that focuses on farmer discrimination programs; beauty of the soil and senior garden project partnership with Campus Towers senior citizen downtown facility.
This year’s awardees are Realtor Partnership Award: Bishop Annie Fields (First Coast Association of Realtist); Chris Britton; Sr. Mortgage Loan Officer of the Year Award: Tamonica Mike (Ameris Bank); Homeownership Legacy Award: Dr. Carlton Jones (Gateway to Heaven Christian Church) President’s Award: Bank of America.
