Foundation Offers Free Exercise and Nutrition Classes to Replace Swimming Lessons

The Shawn D. Delifus Foundation , noted for providing free swimming lesson s to urban communities, is adapting to the pandemic environment.

With mandated Covid-19 social distancing protocols in full force, swim class lessons this simmer have been canceled. In an effort to continue their ongoing community service, they will be offering a 12 week series entitled “Covid-19 Safe Nutrition and Exercise Classes.” Classes began August 31st and ends November 6th, 2020.  Personal professional certified trainers from the Johnson Family YMCA located on the Northside on Cleveland Rd. will be administering the classes.  Trainers include Linda White, Kim Glover along with locally renowned fitness experts James Lee and Melinda Henry. Classes will feature a Covid/19 safe zone for each participant.  The small classes will include the following demographics: classes for children 8 years and older, senior citizen fitness classes, line dancing for adults 30 years old and up and adult exercise classes for ages 18 years and up. Class sizes will consist of small and individualized sessions as well as virtual sessions held on zoom. Individualized classes will be provided for those with limited mobility. Classes will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
