When Veterans Day approaches, cities around the country barricade the streets to prepare for their annual Veterans Day parade!  Here on the First Coast, parade revelers lined the streets for the City of Jacksonville’s 37th military salute. Despite rain, thousands lined Bay Street to catch a glimpse of the parade showcase of vintage cars, local politicians, school bands, ROTC units, corporations and all branches of military.  One of Duval’s oldest veterans Bethel Baptist Church Senior Pastor Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Sr. served as parade grand master. The parade featured senior military officials, active duty and retired military units, veteran groups, local school groups, decorative floats and more.

As of 2020 about 80,000 veterans were based and/or retired from Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport.
