By Lynn Jones-Turpin – Members of the Jville Stompers Riders Club held their 10th annual fish fry/BBQ fundraiser on the grounds of the Masonic Lodge on the northside. Members, guests and friends braved the heat to enjoy a day of biker networking, and BBQ chow down with bikers in Duval and throughout the state.

For 15 years, the Stompers have ridden their bikes for causes that affect the black community. From member birthdays/anniversaries, healthcare awareness, youth activities and bike rider safety classes, the Stompers stay on the front line for Duval community healthcare consciousness. Funds from the fundraiser will be utilized for activities, registration and donations to the American Cancer Society annual walk held in October 2023.

Jville Stompers Riders Club founder and former club president Roger Thompson and current club coordinator Carlette Browning led the team that formed the annual event that has culminated in raising more than $13K for cancer research and awareness. During the year the club holds food and clothes drives for the homeless, back to school drives and volunteering at healthcare centers.
