Over 360 intellectual explorers gathered at UNF’s Lazzara Theater for TEDxJacksonville’s annual conference featuring moving talks, musicals, dance performances and guest speaker communion and dialogue. This year’s conference featured national and local thought leaders in fields like AI, healthcare, behavioral economics, and education.
The transformative talks and stirring performances created connections from a diverse range of thinkers, changemakers and trailblazers. Colonel Eries Mentzer, the first Black woman to command Maxwell Air Force Base inspired the audience on her military career goals and challenges.
The conference also included interactive experiences, networking opportunities, and a session inspired by the TED Democracy Initiative that assists communities across the globe to mobilize and reform systems and reignite civic culture. The conference sought fresh perspectives and breakthrough solutions with speaker Layla Zaidane, speaking to the audience on the need to inspire, empower, connect, and support the young legislators on both sides of the aisle working to change the world. Prison reform activist and founder of the Florida Right Restoration Coalition Desmond Meade brought his dialogue on democracy identity and political ramifications to the stage.
