Last week, local senior citizens joined several City of Jacksonville departments and other resource partners for two days devoted to sharing area programs and services available to residents. Held at the Morocco Shrine Center, several hundred elderly citizens attended The Senior Expo.
Organizers said that Expo provided a one stop resource center for senior citizens to learn about services that maybe beneficial to them and gave attendees an opportunity fellowship each other. Participants perused vendor booths and learned about unique travel opportunities for seniors. Workshops focused on topics like retirement and investing, health, recreation, fitness and other appropriate subjects.
Seniors also picked up the 2018 Jacksonville Senior Services Directory at the event. Jacksonville’s Senior Services operates 19 senior centers, hosts special events, and offers other programs for all seniors ages 60 and older in Duval County. For more information call (904) 630-7392.
