Keep Our Streets Clean: District 10 Accepts the Challenge

Shown are the volunteers proudly cleaning their neighborhood.

The “Put Your Trash In A Can, Not On Our Land” second annual weekend clean-up was supported by more than 150 volunteers who showed up and collected 226 Bags of trash, 100 tires and 17,000 lbs. of debris surrounding the Moncrief/Myrtle/Soutel Corridors and side streets.

“Without the support from our residents, volunteers, community partners and vendors, this community initiative would not have been successful,” said Councilwoman JuCoby Pittman. Representing District 10, Councilwoman Pittman organized the annual walk to influence residents and neighborhood associations to clean their public spaces to improve the districts self-image and the areas desirability. Since being elected to her second term, beautifying District 10’s green space has been one of Pittman’s priorities with a goal of creating scenic economic development opportunities for the business owners and residents in her district. The community cleanup efforts are supported by the area’s residents, firefighters, clergy, JSO, groceries stores and COJ solid waste department that contributes the clean up materials.
