Annie Mae Griffin Celebrates 100 Remarkable Years of Life

In a heartwarming celebration that drew hundreds of well-wishers, Ms. Annie Mae Griffin, marked her 100th birthday with a festive drive-by parade full of joy, honor, and community love. Born on May 30, 1925, Griffin grew up in Jacksonville’s historic Eastside community and is a proud alumna of Matthew W. Gilbert High School and remained rooted in faith and service for over 40 years at Hope Chapel Ministries, where she served in many roles including Church Mother.

Professionally Ms. Griffin dedicated 25 years of service to the Duval County Public Schools as a custodian before retiring in 1991. She was formally recognized by the Duval County Public Schools District for her outstanding commitment to cleanliness helping to keep her school ranked among the cleanest in the district.

An avid seamstress by hobby and trade, Ms. Griffin was known for her expert sewing skills and warm hospitality. Her home was a community landmark where she was known as a firm believer in discipline, dignity, and family. She instilled those strong values that now live on through her legacy of six children, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

“Mother Griffin is a treasure not just to her family, but to the entire Jacksonville community,” said Pastor Michael Bolden of Hope Chapel Ministries.
