Alphas Celebrate Chapter Centennial with All White Riverfront Celebration

The Upsilon Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., also known around town as “The Jacksonville Alphas,” held an All White Soirée’ fundraiser at the USS Orleck Navy Museum on Downtown Jacksonville’s riverfront. The first of its kind by the chapter, it was a classy, high energy and regal evening attended by the brothers and their guests. It set off a series of events planned to celebrate the chapters’ Centennial in December this year, marking 100 years of service in the First Coast community. The soirée’ was a festive event filled with live entertainment, line dancing, raffle prizes, door prizes and most of all, smiles and enjoyment.

During the year, the chapter congregates for their local and national programs that include the MLK Oratorical Contest, Black & Gold Gala and the ‘Go to High School Go to College,’ program established in 1922, concentrating on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement.
