AKA’s Pink Goes Red Exercise for a Cause

Recently Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Beta Eta Omega Chapter held its annual “Pink Goes Red” activity for Heart Health.  The free virtual event was open to the community. Dr Luis E. Rios, Jr. MD, MPH, FACEP Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, UF Health and American Heart Association Volunteer Instructor spoke and helped all understand the risk for heart disease and the conditions that lead to it.  In addition the virtual audience was  informed of the many ways to improve our heart health including diet, exercise, sleep and healthy weight.

Community based fitness expert Ryan McGriff discussed fitness training and nutrition wellness program for women, solutions to heart health and what inspired him to start this business.  One of the most beneficial options was meal prep choices for a total healthy experience.

Wrapping up the event was Jamaine Anderson, American Council on Exercise and Personal Trainer  provided the community with an active heart health activity for the entire family.  The participants were engaged in a high impact kick boxing session which heralded a few tight muscles for the sorority to expose their personal wellness agenda.
