Recently, 5000 Role Models of Excellence members from Jean Ribault High School and William M. Raines High School kicked off their Summer Leadership Academy by attending a legislative town hall hosted by State Representative Tracie Davis at the Bradham Brooks Library.  The  5000 members clad in their trademark red ties and black pants, were able to hear Representative Davis discuss what happened during the 2019 Legislative Session and address state issues that are important to constituents. Students left more informed about the 2019 Legislative Budget, Amendment 4 Voting Rights, Guns in Classrooms, Texting While Driving and Hurricane Relief to name a few.

The 5000 Role Models of Excellence is a free enlightenment program for at risk Black males throughout the State of Florida. Young males 9 – 19 are paired with successful professional adult volunteers, who provide advise, guidance and educational assistance. Preeminently the initiative has more than 8,000 participants, 6,000 volunteers and continues to grow.
