100 Black Men of America Honor Griggs with National Health and Wellness Award

The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. (100 BMOA) honored its Jacksonville Chapter President Charles Griggs with the James T. Black Health and Wellness Award during the 30th 100 Black Men of America National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The award is given to members and community partners that have exhibited leadership in the 100 BMOA’s mission on health and wellness.

In addition to serving as president of the local chapter, Griggs serves on the 100 BMOA International Health and Wellness Committee. In this capacity Griggs has been instrumental in leading the organization’s education and advocacy efforts related to prostate cancer and nutrition and fitness. Recently, the Committee has been engaged in and activity advocating for changes in screening recommendations for African American men who may be at risk for prostate cancer. In 2011, the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. was recognized as Chapter of the Year in Health and Wellness through the implementation of its “Men Tackling the Big C” cancer education and prevention program.
