Miss Duval Honors LGBT Community’s Most Beautiful

The Ms. Duval Pageant 2016 was held June 19th, 2016 at the Firemens Auditorium.

The theme of this year’s pageant was “Self Expression”featuring 10 contestants vying for the crown. Contestants competed in the categories of presentation, talent and evening gown.

The Ms. Duval Pageant has been in existence for over 40 years. Pageant Organizer Marissa Armstead has been at the helm for the last 23 years, “It has grown to be one of the most sought after crowns in the state and region for the past 23 years,” she shared.

The nationally known pageant is open to all races in the United States and entrants do not have to live in Duval County or even the state. However, the pageant does have one requirement. entrants have to be born male even if they’ve fully transitioned as a woman.

In honor of the recent massacre in Orlando, FL killing 50 at a gay nightclub, the pageant held a minute of silence.
