By Lynn Jones | Before all the fanfare for Tiana’s Bayou opening, media reps from around the country sailed on a three night cruise aboard Disney Magic cruise ship to Lookout Cay at Light House Point and Nassau, Bahamas.  Travel agents, influencers and print media reps enjoyed a pre-cruise stay at the Le Meridien – Dania Beach readying for the coveted Disney cruise. “I’m excited to be invited. Disney is a premier cruise line, and you know Mickey will be on board,” smiled guest Krystal Goggins.  The Port Everglades Terminal www.petpev.com/ embarkation process was quick and seamless. Cruisers patiently held their identifications in hand and waited for their zone to be called. The first day of the cruise, guests are whisked on board with a goofy welcome, not meaning goofy as in funny, but you know the hilarious Disney character Goofy, as Goofy directs the ships welcoming committee to launch your parties name! First night we were welcomed via the Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Deck Party, evening dinners were inside Rapunzel’s Royal Table, inspired by Disney’s hit animated movie ‘Tangled,’  Lumiere’s, Animator’s Palate and the cruise elaborate buffet featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

The media cruise offer was extended to more than 50 media reps eager to explore the cruise itinerary highlighting the cultural showcase of ‘RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration at the Island’s Goombay Cultural Center www.nassauparadiseisland.com and the Islands Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash! The islands excursions included Nature Trail, Port Adventures, and stepping through the sand into the islands pavilions for a scrumptious lunch at the True-True BBQ buffet roundtables that offered:  ‘Grilled BBQ Ribs, Island Spiced Rotisserie Chicken, freshly Grilled Cheeseburgers, a wide selection of sides and freshly prepared salads, and even some Bahamian inspired dishes will be served up at True-True BBQ and True-True Too BBQ,’ and the beautiful clear blue calming waters of the Atlantic ocean!

To fully acknowledge Junkanoo’s heritage, Disney and Bahamian spokespersons elaborated and detailed the magical journey of bringing Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point to life.  Music producer Victor Johnson stated, “We wanted to bring the music and the spirit of excitement that makes you want to dance when you feel the pulse of the Bahamian people.” Panelist Bradley Watson remarked, “The take away is how many people will have a unique experience, and how our team expounds on the characters and the story telling.”

Finalizing the cruise debarkation, media reps were rushed off to Walt Disney World for Tiana’s Bayou festivities: Walt Disney World Cast and Imagineers were among the first to experience the new family thrill ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, before it opens on June 28 at Magic Kingdom Park.
