By Lynn Jones – Future Steps Learning Center Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program 2017 graduation was held over the weekend at their location on Moncrief Rd. Over 100 parents, family members and friends showed up to witness the graduation from VPK to Kindergarten. Students eagerly lined up and proudly walked the star studded runway. Teacher Renee Edwards presided over the program that emphasized the students learning initiatives and curriculum. The graduation spotlighted the student’s arithmetic, spelling and memorization acumen. The highlight of the program was the spoken word from the poem entitled, “Hey, Black Child” by Countee Cullen. The audience cheered and smiled for the future leaders headed to kindergarten in the fall. After the program, attendees were feted with a smorgasbord luncheon, a candy tier and cupcake stand.
