Focusing on building tomorrow’s leaders and fostering a love for community and volunteerism, a new youth program recently began with a new class of participants.
The “Metrotown In A Day” initiative is a unique opportunity for youth and young adults to participant in a one-day diversity leadership program, which explores the ways, make a consistent positive impact on the community. Participants were recruited because of their volunteerism and the leadership attributes that they have shown as teens and young adults. The initiative was developed by OneJax high school students to promotes respect and understanding throughout Americas diversity. Program coordinators encourage young people without any bias, stereotypes or prejudices as participants are engaged in discussion about their community.
The curriculum includes workshops where students participated in group experiences/activities, facilitated discussion sessions and individual reflection.
