Sweet 16 is an Affair to Remember for Shauna Edwards

Shauna D. Edwards, the youngest daughter of Pastor Darryl E. Edwards, II, and Shajuan Edwards, celebrated her sweet-sixteen embracing her parents’ Louisiana roots with a vibrant Mardi Gras-themed celebration!

The event transformed Springfield’s Cookbook Restaurant into a New Orleans-inspired wonderland. Friends gathered to revel in an atmosphere rich with soulful jazz, creative karaoke and contemporary favorites spun by DeaconDaDJ. The celebration’s highlight was a live performance by A Few Fellas Brass Band, infusing the night with a traditional New Orleans second-line parade. Shauna and her guests danced the night away embodying the carefree thrill of turning sixteen. Smiling, mother Shajuan Edwards remarked, “Our daughters journey is a beautiful reminder that with passion, faith, and dedication, we can celebrate life’s milestones in a way that resonates with our roots and uplifts those around us.”

Juggling rigorous AP coursework, Shauna is a dedicated First Coast High School swim and chorus team member and recently secured a spot in the Duval County District Honor Choir, an accolade awarded to only five students in the district. In addition she lends her voice to the Present Age Youth Choir, a community group, and nurtures her vocal skills through training at the Aria Academy of the Arts.  She passionately shares daily scriptures on Instagram, once reaching an impressive 400-day streak that inspires her peers. She is active at Greater Bethany Baptist Church, contributing to the praise team, the “Is It Bible Tho” youth ministry, and virtual Bible studies with friends in other cities. Her personality shines through in her oratorical skills, having performed lead roles for seven consecutive years at the Florida General Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
