By Shara Mondy – Suited For Success and Perfectly Suited Career Consulting have joined forces to launch the “Build Her Business” pilot program designed to help women business owners get start up support to sustain their foundation in business.
Suited For Success is a local charity that has been providing ”free” business attire for men and women who are in transition from incarceration, homelessness, and rehabilitation programs seeking employment and supportive services in order to transition back into the community. Founder, Shara Mondy, who has been running the organization since opening its doors in 2004, is excited to announce the new partnership with Alfreda Boney, owner of Perfectly Suited Career Consulting, who won the JAX Chambers’ Entrepreneurial Growth Division of Small Business Leader of the Year Award 2020. Perfectly Suited Career Consulting focuses on developing a Qualified and Retainable Workforce tailor made for Success by offering Career and Professional Development Training, Small Business/Entrepreneur Consulting and offers Accredited Customer Experience Certification training for corporate and nonprofit organizations.
Having met through referrals from the Jax Bridges program, we realized that we both have a passion for helping women start and grow their business, and we have both been working in the community for years providing job readiness and business coaching services. After sharing some of our similar stories of how Covid affected our businesses, we had to use the Pivot skills we learned from our Jax Bridges class to help us refocus and relaunch our businesses. Our combined efforts will address a huge need in our community as we recover from the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Our goal with the Build Her Business pilot program is to help 100 women enter the workforce or entrepreneurship with the necessary tools they need to obtain employment or sustain their business in these difficult times Alfreda Boney, of Perfectly Suited Career Consulting, also a new Advisory Board member of the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center has served women of the JWBC as a Mentor and program facilitator and feels that these women centered connections would make the perfect platform to nurture new and small women owned businesses and prepare them for success and growth.
Suited For Success is now in its 17th year of providing supportive job readiness and coaching services to clients in Duval and surrounding Counties. “Suited For Success initially began suiting men, then we expanded the program with a Women’s division shortly after the local Chapter of Dress for Success Northeast Florida closed its doors”, stated Mondy who was the former Board Vice President of the Northeast Florida Dress for Success affiliate. The success of the Women’s division was greatly due to the support of Corporate partners like Ann Taylor (St. John’s Town Center Store) who held a Sip N’ Shop clothing drive at their store where women came out to shop, donate and support Suited For Success. We were set to hold another in store event in April at Ann Taylor, but due to mandatory shutdown, we had to cancel the event. We are hoping to use the “Build Her Business” pilot program to continue our relationships with such great partners as Ann Taylor and the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center, housed inside the Jacksonville Chamber designed to provide entrepreneurial development and mentorship programs to advance the success of women at every stage of their business growth.. “
