Shennette Sparkes memoir details her fight with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune illness that affects over 5.5 million people worldwide. Sparkes has been living with Lupus for over eight years. Her book details her dealing with hair loss, skin lesions, weight gain and weight loss. The book provides readers an inside view on how she tackled her stint as a University of North Florida Basketball scholarship player, self-esteem, communication, mental health and nutrition. “I hope this book inspires and brings more awareness to those that may be suffering silently with Lupus and encourage those diagnosed to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Sparkes.
