Reminder: March 1, 2025, Deadline to File for 2025 Property Tax Exemptions

Jacksonville, FL – The Duval County Property Appraiser’s Office reminds property owners that the deadline to file for the 2025 homestead exemption and other property tax exemptions is Saturday, March 1, 2025.

The homestead exemption can provide significant savings for property owners by reducing the assessed value of their property for taxation purposes by up to $50,000. This includes the original $25,000 homestead exemption and an additional exemption (up to $25,000) for the portion of the property’s assessed value between $50,000 and $75,000.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident of Florida.
  • Own and occupy the property as their primary residence as of January 1, 2025.

For existing homestead exemption recipients, renewal is automatic unless ownership changes have occurred. Renewal cards for 2025 were mailed to all homesteaded property owners on January 3, 2025.

Eligible property owners can file for the homestead exemption and other property tax exemptions:

  • Online: Visit www.duvalpa.com to file applications conveniently.
  • In Person: Applications are available at the Duval County Property Appraiser’s Office, located at 231 E. Forsyth St., Suite 260, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
