The original “funkateer” George Clinton of Parliament fame, entered the Florida Hall of Fame just one week after being inducted into the National Songwriters Hall of Fame on a Jacksonville stage. Hosted by Secretary of State Cord Byrd at the Florida Theater, Clinton accepted the honor along with Jacksonville native sons – the surviving members of rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Clinton is regarded as one of the foremost innovators of funk music.
