The Delta Delta Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa (NSPDK), Inc. recently welcomed new members into their sisterhood.
As a national educators’ sorority, chapters have accepted the challenge and responsibility of molding and shaping the lives of youth throughout the world. The local Delta Delta chapter was formed in 1979 and its programming includes mentoring youth, Kudos (males) and Xinos (females) in grades 9 – 12 and their three point program entitled, Y.E.S. which stands for Youth, Education and Service.
The chapters major activities include the yearly Teach-A-Rama, Adopt a School and the African American Commission on Civil Rights forum. Currently the chapter operates with thirty active members in Duval county. Shown are newly initiated educators Dessie Mathews (retired) and Vannetta Cooper, an elementary teacher at Austin Academy.
