Pei Wei is a ‘Counter-serve Pan-Asian chain that serves health-conscious noodle, rice dishes & more’. Located at the St. John’s Town Center, according to Google, ‘the Pei Wei restaurant chain was created in 2000 by P. F. Chang’s China Bistro to compete in the fast-growing fast casual restaurant segment while P. F. Chang’s remained in the full-service restaurant segment. The first location was opened in Scottsdale in 2000. By 2010, the company had 168 locations, mostly in California, Texas, Arizona and Florida, and a growing presence in the Northeast and Midwest.’
Pei Wei’s excitement is their menu and the addition of Quinoa on the menu! Quinoa is ‘Super grain’ which offers a nutritious new option in Asian-inspired fast casual dining.
Pei Wei willingly granted the Jax Free Press with five lunch quinoa entrees: a) the Mongolian Beef, sautéed with sweet soy sauce, scallions, garlic, white mushrooms; the Honey Seared Chicken is sprinkled with honey garlic sauce, rice sticks, scallions, red bell peppers; the Sweet and Sour Chicken mixes sweet and sour sauce, ginger, snap peas, red bell peppers, and pineapple; awww last but not least was the Ginger Broccoli and Beef is infused with sweet soy sauce, scallions, ginger, garlic, broccoli,. Topping off the quinoa was the Spicy Tuna, a combination of spicy Ahi tuna, cucumbers, scallions, rice, sesame seeds with a side of wasabi, ginger and Sriracha aioli dipping sauce. Urban Traveler and Free Press says: the meat is tender, vegetables sautéed to perfection, edamame is cooked light; overall Pei Wei rates as nutritious dining on a budget. We have to agree with Pei Wei.com (pronounced “Pay Way”) “Each Pei Wei dish is crafted with ingredients purposely chosen for nutrition as well as flavor. Our menu is inspired by ancient Asian cooking, from the wok-fired classics of China to the street market spices of Thailand, all freshly made to order in our open kitchens daily. Which makes it a little easier for you to eat the food you love, (even if you’re gluten-free!) with less of the stuff you don’t.” **** stars!
