“Receiving this certification is great news for our community,” said Dr. Ronnie Bond, Neurologist and Stroke Program Medical Director at Orange Park Medical Center. “We need this level of care accessible to all populations in Northeast Florida, and the surrounding areas.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, stroke is the fifth leading cause of death, the leading cause of adult disability and affects more than 795,000 Americans each year. It’s important to know the signs of stroke and to act fast. American Stroke Association recommends using the acronym BE FAST which calls attention to balance, eye sight, facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty and time.
