Jazz lovers from around the state hit 95 south to the Apopka International Jazz Festival held inside the Apopka Amphitheater for a night of smooth jazz. Artist on the bill included Duval’s Special Formula Band, Kayla Waters, Kim Waters, violinist Ken Ford and ballet singer songwriter Peabo Bryson. Also on the amphitheater grounds were food trucks for the foodies, vendors and a VIP area with tapas’ and special items for VIP guests and sponsors.
Kayla and Kim Waters hit the stage with their smooth jazz catalogue permeating the night air as they gave homage to classic and neo jazz. Jazz violinist Ken Ford played his repertoire of violin tunes while prancing the stage as the crowd stood for an ovation. Known for singing soulful ballads, headliner Peabo Bryson sang his popular songs including the 1983 hit “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love” with Roberta Flack and the 1978 hit, “What You Won’t Do for Love“ with Natalie Cole. Bryson also sat down with his guitar and belted out a few songs, while talking to the audience on his life, loves and his mantra to be kind to others and be intentional in your daily personal and family life. The Apopka jazz festival one day event is in its 4th year and is gainign a top notch reputation for a relaxing day of social networking and hospitable fun!
