The Third Annual Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant was held at the Ritz Theatre. The Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant is not to be mistaken for a beauty pageant. It is a cultural pageant steeped in the African American experience, designed to promote sisterhood, unity, and social awareness.
The 2023 pageant contestants consisted of an amazing group of very talented young ladies who attend area high schools. The theme of this year’s pageant was “Black Hollywood.”
The winner of the 2023-24 Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant Miss Evelyn Johnson, the daughter of Mrs. Cheryl Johnson. The Atlantic Coast High School senior was crowned by the outgoing 2022-2023 Miss Juneteenth, Miss Micah Webster-Bass. the pageant is presented bu the Dr. martin Luther King , Jr. Memorial Foundation.
