Michelle Cohen Celebrates Big 60

Cohen cuts her cake at the festivities

Creating a Soul Train 70’s themed 60th Birthday celebration, baby boomer Michelle Cohen danced the night away with hundreds of family, friends and colleagues at the Haskell building overlooking the St. Johns River.  Guests were privy to tapas, specialty cocktails and a hand held bag for all the birthday gift goodies! Piggy backing off the 70’s rent/pork & beans/basement parties, Cohen brought to life the Soul Train line dance, afros, dashikis and the mellowness of jazz, rock and R&B tunes to the dance floor. Known throughout Jacksonville for her crafty decorating expertise, Cohen was dressed in the events themes colors of red and black with a blond afro.

For more than thirteen years, Cohen has been the premier event/décor/party planner for patrons from all backgrounds. Hailing from Miami, Florida, Cohen arrived in Jacksonville in 1992 and began her career, working 16 years at Florida Blue. During her spare time Cohen would assist and volunteer with her mother at church repast affairs and eventually encouraged her daughter to hone her craft and become a full-time decorator.

“I use to work with my mother in the church and that’s where I began to see decorating as a full-time career. I’m blessed to be a blessing to others,” said Cohen. In the future Cohen plans to take more time to travel the world and expand her horizons with teaching you the proper etiquette techniques and continue her philanthropy work in the community.
