By S. Quarles – Jacksonville native Magaret Williams celebrated her 95th birthday recently with family and friends at her Northside home. Born June 13, 1929, she attended Old Stanton. Affectionately known as “Too Sweet” she was married to the late Robert Williams, and has been a member of Mount Moriah A.M.E., Greater New Jerusalem and is currently the mother of the church at Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church.
Her passion is cooking, and later in life she became an entrepreneur, cooking, baking, selling cakes and pies. “The holidays were on another level as she always exceeded expectations for the meal and desserts; her home is filled with love from everyone that knows her as she never met a stranger. You can find her in the kitchen even today trying to whip up a masterpiece – if you know you know,” says her granddaughter Shalonda Quarles. She is the mother of six children, enjoys family and friends and is a doting grandmother to her legacy of 47 extended grands still residing in her Grand Park home.
