Founded four years ago, The Bar Exam Definitive Showcase and competition has gained much notoriety and national press and is considered a staple in the music community of Atlanta. This weekend Jacksonville had the opportunity to compete in the Bar Exam, a showcase for up and coming artist. The Bar Exam takes the excitement, drama, heartbreak of the likes of American Idol and Showtime at the Apollo and puts it in front of a live audience. The Jacksonville event was held at Nighthawks on Roosevelt blvd with 12 rappers, singers and slam poets honing their craft in front of accredited music industry judges. Judges critique the competitors, narrow them down to the top five, and the audience decides on the grand prize winner. The Bar Exam golden rule is “pass the bar” or “pass the mic!” Standing L to R is Mal Jones, MICXSIC (Show creator), Blue Moon, Mas Appeal, competition winner Big Dale, Ebony English, Clas$ick, Chase Webb, DJ Knotts, Z. Rich. Bottom row: Zim Mills, Kurt Da Great, N. Finite, G. Dailey and Yamin Semali.
