Local Mental Health Advocates Honored as Community Stakeholders

The city of Jacksonville closed out Mental Health Month with Step-by-Step 4 Help Foundation, Inc., ‘Unsung Heroes in Mental Health’ gala at the Shades of Green Inaugural Gala Mental Health Awards of Excellence. Duval County Public School Superintendent Diana Greene served as the Mistress of Ceremonies alongside other dignitaries honoring the community heroes whom have supported agencies, organizations, influenced others, and have gone above and beyond in the community to help others in the field of mental health.

The non-profit’s founder and president resident Desiree Corley-Jones presented the honorees with awards and spoke about the exceptional work, dedication, commitment, and achievements of the honorees.  Among the Community Hero awards honorees were Pastor Mark Griffin (Humanitarian Award) Patricia Gillum Sams (Community Influencer Award), Sylvester Pinckney (Community Service Award) and Dr. Reginald Sykes (Distinguished Service Award).
