By Marix George – When it comes to beauty we all seem to think of a gorgeous lady providing the service and never see the men in the industry. In Jacksonville, there is a group of distinguished gentlemen on top of the hair industry game. Rounding out the group is a celebrity Pedicurist/Salon and Spa Consultant, two hair care product distributors, one that owns his own hair care line, the most sought after Massage Therapist and a well known photographer. These industry professionals take care of many of the local salons and provide services in the industry in Jacksonville as well as abroad.
The hair industry is a game-changer now that men are shaping the industry on all levels. It is rare to see a group of men with such great passion for the industry. These men can be seen doing positive things in our community as well as other areas in Florida. Some of these positive influences include, but are not limited to holding speaking engagements, hosting training classes at schools, offering advice to salon owners and promoting industry events such as Social Sundays, a salon and industry owner gathering.
The distinguished gentleman members are former U.S. Marine Allen Y. Bird, Founder, President, and CEO of the Allen Moody Group, Inc., established in 2002 to distribute and market his line of salon hair care products. Since then Allen, together with his wife Christie Jones-Bird who is also COO and Senior Vice President of the Allen Moody Group, Inc., have grown AMG, Inc. from a one room operation into a fledging hair care and bath and body products manufacturing company, with three distinct business units; Rodney Staten is a graduate of Jean Ribault High School, and Florida A&M University where he obtained a bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Social Work. After graduation Rodney decided to work with his father for Jochae Enterprise, a company distributing a Hair Products line called Design Essentials. Four years later he assumed ownership of the business and later incorporated the business which is now JoChae Distributors Incorporated and eventually created Social Sunday’s, a business networking Hair and Fashion Extravaganza where the leaders in the industry showcase their work to other industry professionals; Blue Franswa is Florida’s premier fashion photographer. Blue Franswa represents visual art Couture and passion. A native of Port au Prince, Haiti, Blue later migrated to Florida and made his home in Jacksonville; Juan R Rivera, LMT is a Licensed Massage Therapist, and graduate of Heritage Institute. He has been providing Massage Therapy Services in the State of Florida for 14 years. During this time, his therapy has helped people relieve the pain of injuries; stress, car accidents, and body discomfort, as well as maintain good bodily and mental health; Matrix George is nationally recognized as a Spa and Salon Consultant specialist and expert in the salon and spa industry. As an educator, he specializes in teaching and equipping salon and spa owners with the necessary skills and strategies needed to take their business to the next level; Ronald S. Pringle, AKA “Mr. Ron”, is owner of N’novative Enterprise, a Nairobi Professional Production Company and Co-Owner of Hair Affair Inc. Ron is not only a distributor but is also a License Barber Stylist, and Educator. Prior to entering the Beauty Industry Ron served seven years in the US Navy & Air Force and later worked in Corporate Banking for several years. Ron prides himself on being professional and promoting professionalism in the beauty industry.
