Christmas is going to be a lot jollier for five Jacksonville families. The 29th annual ‘December to Remember,’ Christmas party was recently held at the Police Athletic League northside location. The event was hosted by the Clara White Mission in partnership with McGowan Chiropractic, the Divine Nine Greek organizations and V101.5 iHeartMedia. This charity event assists five families in need chosen by a nominating committee to receive free Christmas gifts and holiday help, including children’s toys, a holiday meal, groceries and household items donated by a sponsoring organization. The Clara White Mission has hosted the December to Remember event for 29 years. This year Santa and Mrs. Clause joined the event to deliver North Pole cheer and Christmas magic for the families to experience. One special family that was chosen is a single mother of four children who is suffering from spina-bifida. “Medical expenses and unemployment have kept her from affording the Christmas she dreams of for the children. But the Clara White Mission and its partners are stepping in to help,’ said CWM CEO JuCoby Pittman. Donations are being accepted by the Clara White Mission to help additional families who were not selected. The community can make a contribution to the Mission’s End of Year giving campaign to help provide hot meals to the homeless and stock the CWM food pantry for needy families. For more visit www.clarawhitemission.com.
