The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) awarded the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) with the Gold Standard Award for the Authority’s commitment to safety and security. JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. accepted the award at the JTA Board of Directors.

The designation further establishes JTA as one of the nation’s top transit agencies. “As one of only four transit agencies to receive this award, this is a testament to the team’s steadfast work to keep all of us safe,” said Mr. Ford.  “We want to continue to live up to this recognition by providing a safe and secure environment for all employees, customers, and contractors.”

The TSA evaluated 17 categories of JTA’s security and emergency preparedness elements such as its security plan, security training, background check procedures, public outreach efforts, and drill and exercise programs. The Gold Standard Award is the highest level of recognition from the TSA and is presented to a transit agency for receiving top scores during an annual review of security and emergency preparedness elements.

The TSA annually evaluates transit agencies across the United States through its Baseline Assessment for Security Enhancement (BASE) program. JTA’s approach to safety and security is weaved throughout each of the seven strategic initiatives of the MOVE2027 five-year plan.  Learn more about the MOVE2027 plan at jtafla.com/projects/move2027.
