Since 1997, Jerome Brown’s BBQ has been a staple in Duval’s Northside community. The family restaurant is operated by family members: father Jerome, mother Joann and daughter Katrina. For ten years, the Brown’s have held their annual ‘Senior BBQ & Ice Cream Social,’ at their new location on Lem Turner Road. Hosted by former congresswoman Corrine Brown, seniors enjoyed a free specialty prepared lunch, music and socializing with community elders. Hundreds of BBQ lovers converged on the location for a day of food, fun and frolic. With assistance from sponsors, the event served thousands of BBQ chicken and ribs to guests along with ice cream and lemonade, “We just want to continue to thank the community for their support. As we are blessed we have to bless others,” shared Joann Brown.
