Jax Rallies to Send Students Back to School Properly Prepared

Shown (L-R) are volunteers preparing the book bags for the youth.

The Emmet Reed Community Center was the host location for the recently held 10th annual Alpha Starz/Astronaut Starbright back to School Jamboree. Local dignitaries, vendors, fans, friends and supporters rose to the occasion and gifted youth in the urban core area 520 book bags filled with back to school supplies.  Alpha Starz/Astronaut Starbright founders Taylor Richardson and her grandmother Geri Ford fundraise throughout the year to ensure that children in undeserving neighborhoods have options for a good school year with supplies for school, coats for the winter and toys for Christmas.

“We have to stay on the grind throughout the year to keep our students armed and ready to learn, help them to stay focus and to be all they can be,” said organizer Gerri Ford. Shown are volunteers and sponsors.
