The Gamma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated partnered with the City of Jacksonville to renew Lonnie C. Miller Park in support of the sorority’s Environmental Ownership Target: “Playground 1908.”
The renewal efforts were completed simultaneously as over 900 chapters worldwide launched the Fourth Community Impact Day. Flowers and shrubs were planted, leaves were raked, and fresh mulch was spread. The Project was under the leadership of Committee Chairs LaVonne Mitchell and Ingrid Lewis-Sherles, Project Leaders Keelia Britt, Felicia Hardaway, Horticulturist Gloria Reid, and a host of other chapter members, friends, and family who came out to break a sweat and get fresh air while beautifying the Park.
