The Bold City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated welcomed three new Links into their sisterhood last weekend during a private ceremony inducting community trustees Betty S. Burney, Mia L. Jones and Cordelia Mitchell. The festivities included a luncheon at Matthews Restaurant followed by a Celebration Seafood Boil the following day. They were joined in celebration by their sisters from the Jacksonville Chapter to commemorate the events.
The festivities culminated a six month process for the former candidates which included a series of workshops and a service project demonstrating cohesiveness, ability to pool their resources and knowledge of the organization. Informally dubbed the “Three Musketeers” and formally introduced as The “Circle of 3,” the candidates hosted “Closing the Link in Foster Care” as their service project to motivate, inspire and empower 19 foster care youth who will soon be eligible to age out of the foster care system.
The one day forum empowered participants in three life-changing areas: Financial Empowerment, Career Exploration and Health Empowerment. The session also provided students an opportunity to hear from a fellow foster care student, who had successfully aged out of the system.
The Bold City Chapter, currently in its 22nd year, boasts award winning programs with a strong history of community engagement. Presently under the leadership of Pamela Prier, the chapter has continuously impacted the organization on a regional and national level with leadership representation.
