Families of Slain Children Inc., held a Mind, Body and Soul community workshop at their offices located on Myrtle Avenue.

The empowering free event was held for hundreds of urban core women to enlighten them on proper health care for their bodies and to create an environment to keep their mind and souls intact after a loss of a child.

Leading the workshop was motivational speaker Nicoa Garrett and University of Health Educator Latanya Adkins. A highlight of the program was the receipt of a WellCare grant in the amount of $1,000 for the purchase of hygiene products, under garments, food and gift bags for the attendees.

Families of Slain Children Inc. is a community based organization founded 11 years ago to help families who have lost their children at the hands of violence.
