By Lynn Jones – Working to become a leader in the agricultural and urban farm to table access arena, the Clara White Mission’s White Harvest Farms (WHF) Moncrief Springs 100 year-old location is now a hotspot for gardening. WHF recently invigorated the northside’s Moncrief/45th corridor this past weekend with a soft grand opening.  Attendees were empowered with the tools and opportunity to grow a personal community garden, register for workshops and peruse vendors showcasing their personal gardening tillers.  Produce items included homegrown vegetables and fruit to specialty product items.

Grand opening participants were able to tour the grounds and witness the farm renovations and next steps for culinary class’s registration.   In 2020 the 10.5 acre “White Harvest Farms” was  backed by a city grant of $1.5M and recently received exposure on  Martinique Lewis, host of National Geographic’s Black Travel Across America, urban travel destinations segment based on “The Negro Motorist Green Book.” White Harvest Farms grand rebranding two-day event will be held November 10th – 11th.
