The Bright Morning Star Grand Chapter #64, Order of the Eastern Star under the leadership of Sister Roberta Spencer, held its annual scholarship reception downtown at the Jacksonville Urban League building. Each year the members of the Grand Chapter raise funds to assist eligible students in furthering their education after high school. Over $37,000 was awarded to the five recipients, in addition to, a duffle/goody bag and a gift card.  Dante’ Jennings, Jacksonville Urban League (JUL) Young Professionals and former Duval County Schools teacher and administrator, encouraged scholarship winners, ‘to treat their future like growing a garden; start with the foundation of soil have a goal for growth, plant seeds to provide nutrients and use personal character and values that add to the foundation and water,” said Jennings.  This year’s awardees graduated from high schools in Jacksonville and other Florida cities.
