E3 Raising the Bar for Local Entrepreneurs

Pictured standing is E3 Business Group leader Anthony Butler with entrepreneurs Michelle Poitier, Arlene Cameron-Lloyd, Rasheda Mitchell, Ceandra Dilley and Deborah Raickett.

Quietly in a nondescript location settled within a long ignored section of Northwest Jacksonville, a group of aspiring entrepreneurs made history, as the first class of students to complete Business Plan Boot Camp. Entrepreneurs spent four weeks doing homework, learning avant garde concepts and receiving one on one and group consultation and training by community engagement advocates of the E3 Business Group, Inc. Under the leadership of CEO Anthony Butler, E3 supports over 1000 entrepreneurs in 18 cities nationwide.

“It’s time to take back ownership of our economic opportunities through collective actions, this is not new, we just seem to forget what worked for our previous generations.”

E3, is raising the bar for cooperative economics and seeking to become a standard for supporting aspiring entrepreneurs. The organization, under Butler’s leadership, has created the 3-30-300 (3 Years, 30 Entrepreneurs, 300 Jobs) to Jacksonville. The initiative has developed a number of programming in the city including the well received E3Xpo event held in downtown Jacksonville for the past 2 years. E3 has helped eight new businesses start-ups and supported the creation of over 20 jobs. E3 has increased the ante by bringing together 10 local E3 businesses and leasing 1500 square feet of retail space in the historic Victory Plaza, former home of WCGL, at the corner of Moncrief and Avenue B in the Raines/Ribault section of North Jacksonville.

The 3-30-300 Entrepreneur Community Center (ECC) is a place where workshops, trainings and events which connect various small businesses with the local community started operation March 1st and has already hosted a variety of training including the Business Plan Boot Camp. There is a registration fee associated with the four week course, and includes a bonus 5th week where local banking partner 121 Financial attended and provided one on one review and consultation to each student during class. For more information on upcoming trainings and events visit www.e3businessgroup.us/training.
