Local attorneys from the D.W. Perkins Bar Association recently participated in the dedicated the Jury Assembly Room in the Duval County Courthouse in honor of its namesake. In the early 1900s, Perkins helped lead the effort to desegregate juries throughout Florida by fighting for the inclusion of Black jurors. Perkins led a storied career, breaking many racial barriers while also representing people from marginalized communities in the pursuit of justice. Shown are attorneys Obinna Anum and Paul Perkins unveiling the Daniel Webster (D.W.) Perkins Jury Room.
