Black Founders Demo Day Continues to Develop Aspiring Entrepreneurs

The Jacksonville regional Black Founders Demo Day free event was recently held to a packed audience inside the WJCT Soundstage.  The event was free to attend and included a DJ, summer hors d’oeuvres, and five black and brown founders pitching to a live audience from the soundstage.

The Jacksonville pitch winner is University of Florida graduate Kyle Lampkin. Kyle is the co-founder of ‘Laundr’ an on-demand platform for getting laundry picked up, cleaned, and delivered. Currently the app has partnered with DoorDash to handle delivery logistics in over 7000 cities. Lampkin is eligible to receive $1M in investment opportunities from prominent venture capital and angel investors and a $3k travel stipend and is guaranteed a spot to present at Black Founders Demo Day Miami and in Atlanta at Venture Atlanta.

Companies from all over the country are hand-selected by leaders in tech, venture, and entertainment to showcase their business to potential customers and investors in their industry. Black Founders Demo Day founder and PS27 Ventures managing partner Jim Stallings, a former IBM executive and investor has holdings in several local companies that include a organic seasonings and payment software company, and a snack subscription service. Stalling sits on local boards and continues to invest millions in early-stage companies and focuses on industries like financial technology, sustainability and e-commerce.
