AKA’s 29th Annual Prayer Brunch Tributes Black History and Excellence

By: Nikki Torian – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Pi Eta Omega Chapter held its 29th Annual Prayer Brunch Saturday, February 13th,  at 9 a.m. at the Ramada Conference Center Mandarin.  The Reverend Dr. Marvin Zanders, Sr. Pastor of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church of Jacksonville Florida was the speaker for the occasion.  The theme was “Breaking Chains through Prayer.”    He spoke to the sold out crowd giving a riveting oration that you must believe when you are praying that your blessing is on the way.  He believes in God therefore you must pray.  He said when you pray the heavens open, power falls and God speaks. The “Helping Hands Awards” are given to recognize outstanding individuals in the community that have helped to shape our youth and continue to contribute to our communities in positive ways.  The three recipients for 2015 are:  Mr. Alonza J. Anderson, Housing Developer/Social Entrepreneur; Bishop Otis Trey Wright, Pastor/Personal trainer at Just Wright Fitness; and Dr. Errol Findlater of Lake City VA Medical Center.  The Pi Eta Omega Chapter salutes each reciepeint efforts and congratulates them on being selected to receive this prestigious award.  Shown is Dr. Clorinda Miller, Pi Eta Omega Chapter President, presenting award to Alonza J.
