The Maceo Elks Lodge #8 collaborated with its Florida State Association to host its inaugural “Voices of Our Youth” forum for young men ages 16–24. Held at the lodge downtown location, members and guests engaged in open and meaningful conversations on topics such as mental health, interactions with law enforcement, workforce training and career opportunities, gang involvement, social media, masculinity, and surviving as a young man in today’s society.
“It is both our mission and civic responsibility to listen to our young men and understand their concerns for our communities across Jacksonville. We want these young men to be seen, heard, valued, and loved,” said Jamaal Brown.
