City Leaders Join Forces to Tackle Youth Homelessness

Hundreds of First Coast residents came out in the rain to see a showdown between celebrities and high school all stars last Saturday night. The High School All Star team was comprised of players from Raines, Ribault, Jackson and Englewood, coached by former Mayor Alvin Brown, claimed the win 61-54.

Proceeds from the game benefit the Duval County Homeless Education Department which serves 2700 homeless students next school year.  Since 2013, over $57,000 has been raised via live telethons, a 5K and two celebrity basketball games and awarded 14 scholarships to homeless students entering college thanks to the I’m A Star Foundation.
