Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s Sigma Pi Lambda and Upsilon Lambda Chapters joined community members at Jean Ribault High School for the annual March for Babies Community Walk & Run, raising $3,000 to support the MArch of Dimes effort to improve maternal and infant health.
The chapter donated 100% of the funds raised to the March of Dimes, which provides programs and research focused on promoting healthy pregnancies, reducing premature births and giving every baby the opportunity for a healthy start in life.
The fundraiser also reflects Alpha Phi Alpha’s commitment to Project Alpha, one of the fraternity’s national initiatives that encourages young men to make informed and responsible decisions about their health, relationships and future.
Alpha Phi Alpha has partnered with the March of Dimes since 1980, helping to raise more than $5 million nationwide to support maternal and infant health programs and efforts to reduce infant mortality and improve birth outcomes,
Chapter leaders credited the success of this years fundraiser to the support of community partners, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event possible.
The Sigma Pi Lambda and Upsilon Lambda chapters said they remain committed to strengthening Northeast Florida through service, leadership and community engagement. Since their founding, the chapters have supported thousands of students, families and residents through educational, mentoring and civic programs that reflect Alpha Phi Alpha’s longstanding mission of developing leaders and improving the communities they serve.
