The debate between Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz and Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) was fodder for voters to gain insight into the vice presidential candidates policies and presidential support. Viewed by 43 million Americans, Duval County held various watch parties throughout the city. On the Northside, Northbound church on Lem Turner was the location for the Duval Democratic Black Caucus (DDBC), candidates for office and former politicians to have a meal and engage with other democrats that support the Harris-Walz ticket. “This is a safe place to have a front row seat to what the candidates have to say. It’s about the people and we have to stand up,” said former State Senator Audrey Gibson.
