After her arrival, the Vice President, Mayor Lenny Curry and Congressman Al Lawson toured the Jacksonville federally supported COVID-19 Vaccination Center located in the parking lot of the Gateway Mall. The site, run by active duty US Navy personnel became the opportune moment for high school English teacher Shagar Bradshaw to meet Harris as she witnessed her receiving her second dose of the vaccination. In addition to visiting the vaccination site, the Vice President, Councilman Dennis Garrett and Superintendent Diana Greene, participated in a listening session at Feeding Northeast Florida food pantry. Her tour at the site was to promote the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 which is focused on reducing hunger, strengthening the food supply chain, and supporting disadvantaged farmers.  Harris had the opportunity to hear directly from leaders at the distribution site about their efforts to keep their community fed and healthy.
