Thousands Witness 55th Players Championship Tournament

THE PLAYERS Championship concluded with a playoff between Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 17th.  McIlroy was declared the winner and received the winning $4.5 million purse. Since 1974, the tournament has held course inside the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Saturday’s tournament was sold out, with more than 500,000 fans watching the heralded championship game known as the ‘The Greatest Show on Grass.” The weekend featured salute to military veterans, fan favorite party’s, simulated golf exercises and more! One of the featured tournament winners honored was golfer Caving Peete, the first African American to win the tournament in 1985.
